It's still on her website, same wording. And something to the effect of you get a pedicure also so you'll "feel like a diva during delivery". GAG I know some dr's office offer "med spa" services but you don't have to insinuate we all need to look like we're sports illustrated models to have a baby.

Hee hee I found out about that and decided I would use my awesomely cool razor and let them butcher someone else with that cheapo POS one blade bic they pulled out.

When I had my children (youngest now 30) your pubic hair was shaved AND you were given an enema when you went in to hospital in labour.

You youngsters don't know how lucky you are (grumpy old woman mode).

And to yep, adult women are supposed to have pubic hair.

I've always thought it was a bit sick that some men like women to be without pubic hair. Do they really want us to look like we are 6 years old? Something not right about that.
Im lucky my husband can appreciate a woman who keeps her body natural.

I've seen information on other websites that shaving down there before birth can open you up for infections afterwards as well. When you shave you get tiny, tiny little cuts and openings that can get infected. No thanks, don't want to deal w/that on top of recovery and takign care of my new little one. I tried shaving down there a couple times, and it's so much upkeep, and hurts and itches when it grows back. Ick! And who's gonna see me there other than my hubby? My OB? I'm sure they've seen so many in many different states of care that my hair is not gonna shock them.

Why "should" everyone shave?

To deal with razor burn, ingrown hairs, and rashes on their pubic area? No thanks.

To be "cleaner" then, perhaps? I have soap and water, they've worked fine for me for over 30 years to get me clean. If you felt the need, I am sure you could even use shampoo on the rug as well as the drapes, if you know what I mean. ;-)

To "look nicer?" What is it about reverting my pubic area to a pre-pubescent hairless state that makes it "nicer" than the womanly appearance of having pubic hair? Perhaps some women or men find it preferable, but removing the pubic hair is certainly not so vitally important that *everyone* absolutely should do it, even if they don't want to.

Was this OB trained in, like, 1950? Did she also advocate douching with bleach?
Gimme a break. If thats her best advice before delivery, I'd say she's qualified to be a beautician, not an OB.
