I just met a new mom who happened to be an anesthesiologist along with her husband who is also one. She had no idea of my backgroud and said “if you have another child I might get to do your epidural!” Gag me, I avoid that (or any) hospital like the plague! I managed to respond with a nice smile only….very difficult.

Wait – she asked afterwards? Isn’t that a bit backwards?

Never mind the back ache, the neck problems, or headaches, or inability to get back into your *self* afterwards, which were the side effect I had with the only one I ever had. I’d NEVER do it again, and I told my very surprised OB and nurse that very thing. It was my most painful birth barring none, and I’ve had 6 of them.

Oh wow. So, naturally, everything they do is perfectly safe, because they do it.

“So if it’s completely safe, would you do it without a consent form?”
