I’ve heard that one from other women. Despicable. I had a couple skid marks after my first vaginal birth. No repair required

Oohhhh. That’s terrible. I did get an episiotomy the first time, I didn’t have a choice, the OB just said she was doing it. I had one stitch, just one. Cannot figure that one out.

In three vaginal births I have never torn nor had an episiotomy — and one of those was breech!

I just had my first baby recently, and while I did tear, they were first-degree labial tears – I shudder to think how much worse I’d be feeling if I’d also had an episiotomy!

I was leafing through a copy of “Pregnancy for Dummies” earlier today, and what it had to say about episiotomy is that it PREVENTS more severe tearing. This was written by Dr.s from Cedars Sinai Medical Center, published in 2003 if I remember correctly!

I determined that it was WRITTEN by dummies.

Apparently she’s never met a lot of us! My first birth didn’t result in a tear and my midwife never would have but me. There’s this great thing out there called perineal massage!

I’m a FTM, and I delivered my baby without an episiotomy. I didn’t tear at all.

My mother got this when she gave birth to me. She had some tearing, but nothing severe. The doctor made his poor intern put a stitch into every single tiny tear all the way around, just out of mean-spiritedness.

I was a first time mother when I birthed a 10lb 7oz baby without being cut or tearing.
I still contend that OBs are sadists.

glad my doc said the following when I asked about his views on episiotomies “Episiotomies are senseless 99% of the time. No need to butcher routinely” Good man! I had no tearing at all.
