My friend's water broke at 22 weeks, and the OB recommended terminating. But she stayed in bed, leaking for 8 weeks before the baby was born. He's fine now, although the beginning was a little rough because he was 10 weeks early.
My point - he's fine. And after 8 weeks of little to no fluids - like I explain to people - he was getting a shower, not a bath. :)

My water was broken for 40 hours before my second baby was born. I had an easy four hour labor because we just waited for labor to begin. "Dry birth" my A**. It was anything but dry. Good thing she was born at home.

Rachele, I have a friend whose water broke at 32 weeks. She was admitted to the hospital and given treatments to help the baby's lungs in case labor could not be stopped. He was born *3 weeks* later.

Yet other women are told they "must" have a c-section a couple hours after their waters break. Things that make you go "Hmmm..."

Wow, my waters were broken for nearly 50 hours before my baby was born, and it was anything but dry! Constant leaking, lol.

An OB would have c-sectioned me for sure. I had broken waters at 36 weeks and NO labor for over 2 days. Baby and I were in perfect condition, so we just waited for her, and she finally made her appearance!

Ladies, get a GOOD MIDWIFE!

I'm sorry, but this is what happens when OBs do correspondence medical school. I mean, clearly, this could not have been an actual medical doctor, just one playing one on TV.

How sad that my mum said this (she trained in the 50s) and they haven't actually updated their 'knowledge'.

Wow. Guess I shoul've had cesareans for my last 2 then. Funny how things were so dry I was still leaking 88 hours after my water broke & there was a huge gush of liquid right behind my baby
