"…I Have A Bad Back…"
You’re taking so long to push this baby out and I have a bad back and it is really starting to hurt.” -OB to mom placed in doctor requested lithotomy position, after mom asked doctor to stop leaning on her leg.
Yeah, THAT makes a lot of sense. Um, my doctor pulled up a stool. I can’t believe anyone would complain to a woman PUSHING OUT A BABY that their back hurt because it wasn’t going fast enough. ‘Cause, you know, that’s the most pleasant part of birth (assuming you’re not a lucky and RARE orgasmic birther, that would be a no).

Actually, pushing WAS the most enjoyable part of birth for me, and I sure as hell wasn’t an orgasmic birther! I had a nasty labial tear after the fact too.

Most women find that part the hardest, especially if they’re still in transition. It was the most enjoyable part for me in my second birth, but it was a VBAC and I had an epidural. It hurt like heck and I tore (she turned her head twice while coming out–started out transverse) both cervix and outside, but it was just so amazing pushing her out that even with the pain, it was great. That doesn’t mean I’d have appreciated someone whining about their back hurting right then, lol.

‘poor doctor’ (sarcasm) maybe he should get a walking epidural
